Vermont Architects weigh in on vertical access requirement

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Vermont Chapter is urging the Vermont Department of Public Safety to reconsider a requirement for vertical access in public spaces.

According to Tom Bachman, the chapter’s president, the requirement in spaces as little as 1,000 square feet is far stricter than the national level requirement and will likely reap unintended, negative consequences for Vermont.
